The Revenant is a short film that takes you to the symbolic abyss of the subconscious mind. Nate Herrera (Anthony Vasquez), a morose workaholic medicating himself to sleep at night, is unwilling to face the reality of his life and becomes forced to do so through the dreams of a single evening. Throughout his dreams, he is unable to find his girlfriend Katie (Sydney Laurel) as he jumps from past memories of high school to those of recent times. As he is worked by his own subconscious to accept the truth, Nate is forced to come to terms and accept his life’s harsh reality.

A short by Tony Conte, the film is a dramatic insight into the dreamscape of the human psyche. The Revenant is an emotional journey for one man as he overcomes the five stages of grief.

The Revenant was produced and funded in the Silicon and Central Valleys of California. After coming up with a script, Tony Conte III gathered a group of filmmakers (who now collectively head together STRAY ROCKET PRODUCTIONS) to produce a small trailer to gather funding for a larger, high-definition short-feature project. As Tony saught out assistance in getting the project off the ground, he was able to get the Modesto/Riverbank area nonprofit organization RIO ARTS to be his fiscal sponsor. He and artistic director Joey Huestis headed the producer's team in raising the funds.

In June 2008, the short feature entered production, with all the primary cast members natives of the Modesto area. The Revenant completed production within five days, and post-production was completed entirely in Sunnyvale and San Francisco, respectively.
